The Journey into Art: The Merantile Place in Dallas "The Merc"
Dallas Abstract Modern Artist - Esther Ritz

To journey fully into art, people need to surround themselves with sights and sounds conducive to the artistic experience. A dwelling place should not be just somewhere to lay your head; it should also inspire and cause the energy of creativity to well up from within. When choosing where to live, many factors, such as layout, lighting, amenities and ambiance, need to be considered.

An ideal abode would be a place where luxury and art combine, like they do in the upscale rental residences known as the Merc. The Mercantile Place in Dallas, Texas offers an atmosphere rich in Dallas abstract modern art. Whether you are moving to Dallas or are a local looking to improve the aesthetics of life, the Merc may be the place for you.

The Mercantile Place, built in 1942 during World War II, is a historically significant building that used to house a bank. The decorative 4-sided clock tower, with its unique weather spire, that crowns the Merc, is a landmark in the Dallas skyline. This 523-foot building now contains 213 apartments, as well as six penthouse suites, all remodelled and renewed using the best in Dallas abstract modern art.

Layout

One and two bedroom apartments are available with over 30 beautiful layout plans from which to choose. Two distinct designer finishes are offered. The penthouse suites include upgraded designer finishes. Finishes and layouts can be viewed here.

Lighting

Residences are lit using bright white florescent lighting in the kitchen and recessed pot lights in the other living areas. During the day, the main areas receive much natural sunlight through large windows that look down on the cityscape. Suites also boast designer pendant and track lighting.

Amenities

An abundance of amenities can be found at the Merc. There’s a Welcome Center, a TV lounge with billiards table, a private screening room, and a fitness center. On the 14th floor of the Merc, residents and friends can relax in the RL Thornton Lounge. Off the lounge, there is a large terrace where one can take in the sights of the city. The view is especially spectacular at night.

Outside, there is a large swimming pool with poolside seating/tanning areas. From the spa area, residents enjoy a gorgeous view of the park. The lovely courtyard, beside the pool, contains barbeques, ample seating, a partially-enclosed private dining area, fire pits, and a fire place. This area is the perfect setting in which to hold family gatherings or get-togethers with friends.

Ambiance

The ambiance at the Merc is created by the friendly staff, including a 24-hour doorman, and by the decor. The artwork features modern art styling from the Art Deco period as well as Dallas abstract modern art by the painter Esther Ritz. Paintings by Esther Ritz have been purchased by Forest City and are permanently on display in the elegant lobby of the Merc.
Home is not just a place to hang your hat, or your heart. Home is where you dream the dreams for tomorrow. For some, the Merc is far-removed, either geographically or financially, but what it has can be used to reorganize any home or life - space and art and room to dream.
