The Journey into Art: Touring Dallas Art
Dallas Abstract Paintings - Esther Ritz

There are many exciting things to do and see in Dallas, Texas. Art culture flourishes in this city, as evidenced by the many venues and outdoor displays. Some of the art in Dallas is totally unique and cannot be seen anywhere else. Of special interest are the Dallas abstract paintings. A trip to Dallas would not be complete without taking in the local art.

Tourists can begin by taking advantage of some fantastic, free activities that are available. In the Dallas Art District, there is one-hour guided walking tour of the largest arts area in the USA. Call Art District Friends to obtain more information and to reserve your spot in the group (214-953-1977). North Park Center is a 1.4 acre park showcasing sculptures by world renowned artists. Free community events are often held at this park. At the La Colinas Mustang Sculpture, just north of Highway 114 on O’Connor Road, nine large bronze mustangs appear to be cutting their way across a stream of stone in Williams Square. The Sculpture Garden at the Trammell Center in downtown Dallas displays statues of French masters nestled in picturesque gardens. On the streets of downtown Dallas are more than 30 different statues. These range from sculptures of the 19th century to works of modern art.

Esther Ritz, one of the first-rate Dallas abstract painters, suggests that people make a point of “going to galleries and museums and other venues and really taking in what they are seeing. Better to spend 15 minutes with 3 or 4 paintings than entire gallery. Allow yourself to fully experience the work.” The Dallas area boasts some fantastic art museums. Three museums located in the downtown area are the MADI, the Nasher and the Dallas Museum of Art. The MADI Museum showcases geometric and Madi art. It is a great place to see more modern artwork. The Nasher Sculpture Center has a small indoor gallery and a large outdoor garden where one can view numerous large, impressive pieces. This center really is a venue to visit on a sunny day. At the Dallas Museum of Art, there is always something interesting to see as new exhibits, treasures from around the world, are constantly arriving.

For a more unique art experience when touring Dallas, take this advice from Ether Ritz, a creator of Dallas abstract paintings: “Another idea is to go to the web site of Dallas Arts Revue to see what is going on. Or email local artists for a studio visit! Most would love it.” Some of these local artists are Dallas abstract painters. Esther Ritz has a private gallery/studio in the Bishop Arts District housing her Dallas abstract paintings which she delights in showing, by appointment.

There are many ways to view the art of Dallas, Texas. To really experience all this city has to offer, tourists need to give themselves enough time to go, at a leisurely pace, from place to place and really soak in the sights.
