About the Work

In Yud, Esther Ritz merges tactile mixed-media exploration with profound spiritual symbolism. Named after the tenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet—the smallest letter, traditionally revered in mystical philosophy as the primordial dot from which all creation emanates—the work investigates the transformative power of the singular, sacred mark. Approached through the intuitive discipline of Process Painting, Ritz layers mixed-media textures, collage fragments, and acrylic washes to construct a deeply contemplative surface. Emerging from these tactile grounds are her signature pointillist dot constellations, serving as celestial anchors and luminous pathways across the square canvas. The intimate 24 × 24 inch format invites close viewing, creating a meditative sanctuary suited for private contemplative spaces, fine art collections, and curated residential interiors.
